Ron White

Ron came to Malcolm X College after spending 4 seasons as an Assistant Coach at Olive-Harvey College. At Olive-Harvey, his teams were back-to-back City Colleges of Chicago Champions (2017-18 and 2018-19). Most impressively, Ron helped increase Olive-Harvey’s wins from 7 in his first season, to 17, and then to 26 during 2017-18. During the 2017-2018 campaign, Olive-Harvey reached the Region 4 Championship Game and were ranked as high as ninth in the nation.

Prior to Olive-Harvey, Ron spent four seasons as an assistant to legendary prep basketball coach, Gene Pingatore, at St. Joseph's High School in Westchester, IL. During his tenure, St. Joseph's won two Chicago Catholic League championships, three Regional Championships, two Sectional Championships, two State Semifinal appearances, and the 2015 IHSA State Championship. Ron began his coaching career with Buckeyes Basketball--Rising Student Athletes, Inc., a nonprofit program for adolescents throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

Ron has developed and mentored countless student-athletes during his career. Many of these student-athletes received both academic and athletic accolades including scholarships from schools in the BIG10, SEC, Pac-12, MVC, Horizon league, ACC, CCAC and numerous other colleges and universities.

A native of Chicago, Ron spent two years at Saint Mary’s College (CA), transferring to Diablo Valley CC (CA), and then completed his collegiate career at The University of Minnesota-Duluth (MN). Ron served as Team Captain at both Diablo Valley and Minnesota-Duluth where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  Additionally, Coach White earned his Masters in Organizational Leadership from Judson College.
